In Remembrance

Just this evening I learned that a fellow blogger (and Facebook friend) passed earlier this month.  She was visiting family over the holidays and got sick with the flu.  Unfortunately, it developed into much, much more.  Despite their greatest efforts, the doctors were unable to save her.  She was 29 years old.

I would like to take a few moments to honor my sweet blogging friend, Jennifer.  Though we never met in person, we moved from blogging friends to becoming Facebook friends, as it's much easier to keep up with each other that way.  Especially when blogging can become so sporadic (as seen here on my own blog!).  I enjoyed Jennifer's posts.  She was REAL.  I don't think the thought ever occurred to her to be anything but genuine.  Her heart was for Jesus and it shined through her for everyone to see.  I'm not saying that just because she has passed and it's a "nice sentiment".  I say it because it is truth.  I think back on some of her Facebook updates and remember her stance on her Faith and her Lord.  I also remember the "good deals" she would find at yard sales and shops during her travels.  She was always excited to get a good deal!  And often times, she found GREAT deals!  I loved her funny posts!  It always seemed something comical happened to her while she was out and about and you could always count on her to retell it and give you a good Laugh Out Loud!  Jennifer was a treasure.  A true joy.  And to think, I had never met her face-to-face... though she impacted me in such a way that I want to take the time to write about her.  I believe she served her purpose here on earth to spread the Gospel... and honestly, she touched me.  And if that was her only purpose in life (which I'm sure it wasn't, but who are we to know what God has planned?), I would like to say Thank You.  Jennifer makes me want to be a better person.  Not afraid of who I am.  Not afraid to speak of my Jesus.  Not afraid to live life to it's fullest, even if that means living what others would deem a simple life.  I hope that someday when I am gone to heaven, people will look back on my life and think of me in the same way I think of Jennifer.  A true child of the Father.  A good and faithful servant.  I am saddened to have lost a blogging friend... but I am happy to know that Jennifer is in her true home!

To Jennifer, a sweet, sweet soul... I'm not sure how heaven "works"... but I hope someday we get to meet face-to-face.  It would be my honor.  -Devon

And She Turns 3!

Thursday is Eloise's 3rd Birthday!  (Already!)  We had planned her birthday party for this coming weekend, however Cory's dad has had some more health issues.  They found a tumor on his lung.  A biopsy is scheduled for Jan. 24th.  Since the party would have been the 25th, and he could possibly still be in the hospital over 2 hours away, we decided to have the party a little earlier so he and my mother in law could attend.  We weren't 100% prepared... and normally I hate using streamers!  But with the limited options, we did what we could and I think it turned out pretty well!  I know Eloise had a blast and we are so thankful that MiMi and Pappy could be there with us to celebrate!  That's all that matters!  Hope you enjoy!

Happy Birthday El!!

Dinah Turns ONE!

We celebrated with a Dinah in Wonderland party!  If you've never seen the movie, then you might not "get" all of the decor... but it's definitely a fun theme!  Wish I would have had more time/funds to do other things.  But I think it turned out OK!  We are thankful for the family (and friends) who came out to celebrate!

(El helped me make stickers for some of the cups!)

Happy First Birthday, Sweet Dinah Girl!
We Love You!
