At the...Best of luck with your appointment, Devon! At the very beginning, I was sore, bleeding, and even bruised! That cold winter air doesn't help, either. I didn't get to see a lactation consultant, but I made the nurses at the hospital give me a breast shield. It helped immensely with latching. Although it was messy and inconvenient, it saved me, I used it for about 10 weeks and was able to nurse more comfortably up to about 9 months.Nicolenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4942208962770408878.post-38902974483065416852011-02-09T10:10:30.071-05:002011-02-09T10:10:30.071-05:00Hi there; I was a La Leche League leader for year...Hi there; I was a La Leche League leader for years. The first baby I nursed was EXACTLY as you describe. It WILL be better. The baby's mouth will grow, and your nipples will toughen. The consultant should be able to help with any latch issues. I can almost promise that by 6/8 weeks it will be better...which I know can seem like forever when each feeding creeps by. I was soooo glad to carried on and got through. He nursed for 2 years...that first little guy! LOL I went on the successfully nurse all my babies after that!

Blessings,

CaroleeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4942208962770408878.post-52855025583810743392011-02-05T12:13:07.781-05:002011-02-05T12:13:07.781-05:00Oh mama! OR I'd just pump and feed her because I dreaded the pain. You will be so surprised when you finally "get it" that it doesn't hurt that bad! It's never "comfortable" but it shouldn't be unbearable. However...I hated the guilt given to me about never giving up, so I will be the friend that tells you, if it doesn't happen- don't feel bad!Chana@ Mamma Townhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16495725656988893052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4942208962770408878.post-73593238312933625252011-02-05T10:27:55.950-05:002011-02-05T10:27:55.950-05:00Wishing you the best and hope they can help you. ...Wishing you the best and hope they can help you.
